Global Talent Search – Second Assignment

Hola! I was so excited to recently make it to the top 50 from almost 1000 entries for Lilla Rogers Global Talent Search (details below). The assignment was based on Sunny and her cafe cookbook, and as she’s a pretty cool babe I was inspired by my local cafe who delivers bread to create a dessert bike bar.

Today is the last day you can vote for my entry – I’m hoping to make it to the top six – egad! If you have a momento and you don’t mind throwing my entry a vote, you can do so right here (along with four more votes – so go get some eye candy!). THANK YOU xxxx

Global Talent Search

I’ve joined the wonderful community of illustrators taking courses through Make Art That Sells this past year, and it’s been invaluable to push my work, learn more about different markets and presentation and develop friendships with talented artists I’ve long admired who are also taking the courses. So I was thrilled to recently make it into the top 50 for the annual “Global Talent Search” with this entry (you had a fun assignment designing a tea set!). Now I’m busily working on the next project and having a ball, details will be out next week 😬

Smile Cry

Excitement brewing as my very first picture book, written by the clever Tania McCartney and published by the fine folk at EK books, is released in under a month.  Stay tuned for Melbourne launch details (April 9 at the Little Bookroom) but in the mean time here is our cover!

BHB

I’ve had a few posts about Big Hearted Business… I like the idea that they are helping people with the important business of “doing what you love, making money and changing the world.” Their next conference is on soon and they are giving away some scholarships, and I (somewhat nervously) have made a video to join the applicants!

You can vote for them here, closing tonight, but also fun and inspiring to see what drives others – a collection of creative people sharing their work.

Bologna Children’s Bookfair

I just returned today from Italy… and I am jetlagged, so jetlagged I took the wrong luggage home and gave a poor Finnish tourist a bad start to their journey.

However, Italy and Bologna were simply amazing! The food, the town, and the busiest week of my life at the fair. Back to back meetings, followed by dinners and work work work – it went by in a sleepless blur, but I was so lucky to be there. Here are a few schnaps from the amazing week!

Emerging Artist Exhibition

Oooh I am excited to be next week a finalist in the Emerging Artist Award and Exhibition, at the Walker Gallery in Dandenong.

I’ve just started putting my work “more out there”, so it is very exciting to see progress… and I’m really looking forward to see some other work. Should be fun.

Embarrassingly, when I went to hand in my work, children’s book illustrator Leigh Hobbs was there and I introduced myself with the babble that I hoped to be a kid’s book illustrator one day. Fate or awkward!? 🙂
