To Stir with Love

I apologise for the lengthy pause in posting. This year and a half has been a hard one. I have developed most likely long covid, which is slowly improving but has definitely made life turn sideways – and made me appreciate good health so much! It was quite scary for a bit not knowing why I suddenly went from pretty great health to scary weird things happening, and developing dysautonomia/POTS that made my heart race just standing up…. and took awhile to work out how to treat it, which I am still working on day to day.

But I am grateful I don’t have it as badly as many, I can still happily work and be a pretty present parent even if I need more naps. The Australian medical system, although under pressure, has been incredibly great and helping me rule out the scary stuff and start chipping away at getting better. Work has actually been a wonderful distraction from the health fiasco, and I am happy to share the first of three books coming out the next few months.

So turning to happier things….

I was very lucky to work with the amazing Kate Mildenhall (author of several amazing adult titles – most of which I have read and loved!) on her first picture book, To Stir With Love – with the amazing team at Simon and Schuster. This book celebrates the magic of grandma’s – and their recipes! Sliced throughout are collaged images from Kate’s family’s archives – photographs and cooking equipment, a very personal tale that I loved being a part of. We are very excited to launch this title in Australia later this week! (For Melbournites, please join us for the book launch).

We are excited to share more over the next month – and inspired to do some spring baking to celebrate its release! The book includes a recipe from Kate’s amazing family recipes, as well as space to add your own special family secret recipes.

We hope you enjoy it! Kate will be touring this book and more details can be found on her instagram (I am slowed down by this nasty long covid business, but hopefully next year can get out and about again more). xx
